What is Fall Retreat?
Fall Retreat is a weekend for connection. You’ll encounter Jesus in community with hundreds of students across Indiana and Illinois. You’ll have a blast with your newfound family of friends, hanging out together and dreaming about what God wants to do on your campus. You’ll see your faith come alive in a new way and catch a vision for how God is inviting you to follow him during your time in college and for the rest of your life. Come find your community and discover God’s calling for you!
The vision of InterVarsity is to see lives transformed, campuses renewed and world changers developed. We long to see a witnessing community on all 150 colleges and universities in Indiana and Illinois. We hope that you join us for a life-changing weekend at Fall Retreat!
Speaker
Greg Jao
Greg Jao, a Chicagoland native, got involved with InterVarsity as an undergrad student at University of Chicago. He then attended Northwestern University law school and after practicing law for a few years, he came on InterVarsity staff primarily at University of Chicago and, in his own words, "did the world's worst planting job at Governor's State University," was an Area Director, and then the Northern Illinois & Northwest Indiana Divisional Director before serving as Regional Director for the New York/New Jersey Region. Greg also served as the Urbana Student Missions Conference emcee in 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2012. He and his family are back in the Chicagoland area, and he is currently serving as InterVarsity’s Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer.
Greg is also the author of Your Mind’s Mission (an Urbana Onward book), The Kingdom of God (a LifeGuide Bible Study), and a contributing author to Following Jesus without Dishonoring Your Parents (a discipleship book for Asian Americans) (all IVP), Educating about Religious Diversity and Interfaith Engagement: A Handbook for Student Affairs (Stylus), Telling the Truth (a book on postmodern evangelism published by Zondervan), and Voices of Conflict & Voices of Hope (a two-volume study of American teenagers) (Adama Books).

FAQ
How do I get there?
Fall Retreat is located in Carlinville, IL. We'll be at the Lake Williamson Christian Center 17280 Lakeside Dr., Carlinville, IL 62626. Your best bet is to drive to the retreat with friends. If you don't have access to a car, talk to your InterVarsity staff worker to help arrange transportation.
How much does is cost?
You can register with a $30 non-refundable deposit.
If you register before 11:59pm CST on October 2, you'll lock in the early bird rate of $160.
After October 2 until 11:59pm CST on October 16, you'll pay the regular rate of $185. After October 16 you'll pay the late rate of $200. Rate includes housing, all meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Rate does not include transportation to and from the conference or other meals, so coordinate with the friends you're traveling with or work out a transportation plan with your InterVarsity staff.
I can't pay for it...what should I do?
Don't let money keep you from coming to Fall Retreat! We have scholarship money available to help you make it work. Talk to your InterVarsity staff about scholarships that may be available, or if that doesn't work, contact our registrar using the email form below. We'll work with you to make a way!
What if I have to cancel?
Just don't : ) But if you must, you have until the day of the retreat to cancel if needed. Unfortunately, the deposit is non-refundable, but if you've already paid your full balance, we'll be glad to refund the rest.
How does housing work? Can I choose my roommates?
Housing will be on twin bunk beds (regular size twin). Every room will be filled with 6-12 people of the same gender, from the same campus as far as possible. If you have a specific request or particular needs, just use the contact form below to get in touch with our registrar.
When should I arrive? When will we be done?
Plan to arrive no later than 6:30pm on Friday so that you can get registered and settled. Our first session starts at 8pm. We'll wrap up by noon on Sunday.
What precautions are being taken due to COVID-19?
We will follow CDC and local guidelines. Be wise and use your best judgement. If you are allowed by your university/college to attend classes, then you are allowed to attend Fall Retreat. During the event monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms and isolate if you have any of these symptoms. We will have COVID-19 tests onsite if needed.

Volunteers & Alumni
Traditionally, volunteers and alumni have played a huge role in making Fall Retreat the amazing experience that it is for students! And we would love for you to join us again this Fall. However, Fall Retreat will not have tracks this year, so we anticipate we will have fewer volunteer needs.
So we are inviting all alumni and ministry partners to register and attend as Fall Retreat participants. If you would still like to volunteer you can let us know how you'd like to serve when you register (roles might include intercession behind the scenes, helping with registration, praying with students and more!) We will study Scripture together, connect with each other, in addition to hearing what God is doing on campus through InterVarsity these last few years and partnership as we look ahead to post-pandemic ministry.
Cost for all volunteers and alumni is $150 per individual, $250 per couple. This contribution helps offset the costs for students! Questions? Fill out the contact form below.
